Zion’s Council

The Christian Reformed Church recognizes Jesus Christ as the only head of the Church. We believe the Holy Spirit sets apart pastors, elders, and deacons to be “officebearers” in Christ’s Church. These people form our Council and are called “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ is built up” (Ephesians 4:12. Council provides administrative leadership, pastoral care, and equipping and support in the areas of mercy, justice, and reconciliation.

  • George Douma, Jacqueline Vande Pol

The Administrative Elders provide visionary leadership for the ministries of the church, such as through continued renewal and development of our Ministry Plan. Administrative Elders have authority to act on all matters consistent within the budgets, policies, and goals approved by council.

  • Jacqui Mack

In conjunction with the pastor, the Pastoral Care Elders are responsible for the spiritual well-being of the congregation by providing pastoral care, discipline, and counseling to the congregation. Pastoral Care Elders interview candidates who wish to profess their faith, oversee transfers of membership, and conduct welcome/exit interviews.

  • Debbie Darrock, Marian VanderMeer

Deacons provide material assistance, counsel and expressions of Christian compassion to those in need. Deacons are responsible for the scheduling, collecting, and disbursing of offerings. In imitation of Christ’s mercy, deacons act with generous sharing, joyful hospitality, and thoughtful care.
